Growermetal Srl specializes in the production of safety, spring and flat washers, as well as stamped parts according to customer specifications – controlling the entire production process in-house.

Founded in the 1950s by Virginio Cattaneo, Growermetal is a second generation family business. The name Growermetal comes from the trade name for the company’s spring washer – “Grower” – which was the first product the company started selling and which is even incorporated into the design of the company’s logo. Since then, Growermetal has developed a wide variety of new standard and special products according to customers’ specifications, which has seen it grow steadily year by year.

Growermetal’s products can be used in a variety of applications, which has led it to expand into European and global markets. The company’s goal is to continue to grow, which is why it has opened two international sales offices. The first is in the United States – G & G Safety Fasteners LLC (New Jersey) – and the second in Brazil, Growermetal do Mercosul LTDA (Curitiba). “The goal of G&G Safety Fasteners is to further strengthen our presence in the US, Canadian and Mexican markets,” said Paolo Cattaneo, general manager of technical management, production and quality oversight at Growermetal. “The Brazilian operation includes an office and warehouse that can offer a full sales service to South American markets. “

Growermetal divides its production into two main product families: stamped parts and wire products. In 2017, the company produced more than 4 billion pressed parts – approximately 9,000 tonnes – and 320 million wire parts – approximately 2,000 tonnes. The product line includes more than 4000 standard washers according to DIN, ASME, NFE and other international standards. The product line includes internal and external toothed tooth washers, taper washers, contact washers, sperrkant washers, spring washers, spring washers for railway applications, wave washers and end washers – all available in steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, bronze, aluminum, copper, brass, inconel and other alloys upon customer request.

One of the strengths of Growermetal’s production is its ability to manufacture special items, with the company producing over 2,000 products according to customers’ plans. “We have gained a great deal of experience over the years, thanks to our demanding customers who frequently send many demanding inquiries for special parts such as SEM washers for nuts or screws, flat washers, ribbed flat washers, eccentric washers, cup washers and spherical washers, ”explains Paolo. “Our highly qualified technicians perform in-depth feasibility studies to ensure efficient and reliable service with a commitment to manufacture the highest performing end products.

A key factor in Growermetal’s ability to provide reliable, fast and flexible service is that it controls the entire production process in-house. This includes the design and manufacture of tooling, with the company’s tool shop equipped with the most advanced machinery and the latest technology, such as CNC drilling-milling machines, EDM machines, CNC grinding machines and CNC lathes. All these equipments allow the company to achieve the maximum precision and productivity of the tooling.

Besides tooling design and manufacture, Growermetal’s production processes also cover cutting and stamping, wire rolling, surface cleaning and finishing, heat treatment, mechanical zinc plating, coating zinc flake, sorting, quality control, packaging and storage – with 5,500 storage locations available in its fully automated warehouse.

A big advantage for Growermetal is that it can also offer internal surface treatments, with its mechanical zinc plating process qualified by MacDermid®. Growermetal is an approved approved plater for ZinKlad 250 M treatment since 2009, for its products as well as for third parties. In addition, the company is approved for the mechanical zinc plating process according to the automotive standard FCA PS.50042, as a unique zinc plaster on the markets of Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

In 2016, the surface treatment department got even better with the installation of a fully automatic zinc flake coating line, specially designed to perform surface coatings on washers and to achieve the best results for both. an aesthetic point of view than performance.

The company has also been certified by Dörken MKS-Systeme as an approved tackifier for the use of MKS® products. This means that Growermetal is able to offer high performance coatings with a choice of different basecoat solutions such as DELTA-PROTEKT® and DELTA-TONE®, as well as a range of topcoats including the DELTA- range. PROTEKT VH. Thanks to this investment, Growermetal is able to offer the appropriate products with zinc flake coatings in-house to guarantee its customers maximum flexibility and speed of execution.

Since 2015, the company has been cooperating with the Nord-Lock group within the framework of a strategic production and technical development agreement for the manufacture of lock washers. As a result of this agreement, Nord-Lock Group acquired the Grower Twin-Lock® brand and Growermetal undertook to supply lock washers exclusively to the Nord-Lock Group.

The projects for 2018-2020 relate to the expansion of the premises and the installation of new product lines in order to significantly increase production capacity.
